Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Faisal Javed Khan introduced this critical bill “Smooth Passage for Emergency Vehicles” which was passed by the joint sitting of the Parliament.
The bills states that Motorists (Drivers of Motor Vehicles) are obligated to allow a clear passage for ambulances & fire brigade with warning sirens sounding & lights activated.
The “Smooth Passage for Emergency Vehicle” bill also stated that those who fail to comply will be penalized with a fine of up to Pkr 3000.
Another point of bill stated that Any person using the warning devices sounding or warning lights without reasonable cause or without authorization shall be punishable with fine or imprisonment which may extend to 6 months or with both.
