PM Imran Khan has rejects the request of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) for another increase in the prices of petroleum products.

Hence, the petroleum prices will remain unchanged at Pkr 145.82/liter, diesel at Pkr 142.62/liter, kerosene oil at Pkr 116.53/liter, and light diesel at Pkr 114.07/litre in the month of November.

While an official notification in this regard will be issued shortly, sources within the PM’s Office have disclosed that the PM rejects OGRA request to hike in prices of petroleum products in order to provide relief to the masses.

Yesterday on Novemer 14th, Prime Minister’s Finance Advisor, Shaukat Tarin warned the Pakistani people to get ready for another incresee in the prices of petroleum products as the government of Pakistan could not stop PKR freefall against the US Dollar, due to the rising inflation throughout the world that impacted the prices of Pakistani Imports, even after the control in the volume of imports.

Prime Minister’s Finance Advisor, Shaukat Tarin claimed that the government has already provided enough subsidy on the petroleum prices by bringing down the sales tax to 1.6% from a 17% in last 3 years under the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

Earlier in the month of November, the Pakistani government had approved a record increase in the petroleum prices.

The development shocked everyone as it came on the day Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the country’s biggest relief package Pkr 120 billion to give subsidies and other help to almost 130 million needy people in Pakistan.
