The legendary comedian Umer Sharif passed away at the age of 66 due to a prolonged illness. To honour the services rendered by the late comedian the Government of Sindh and Karachi Administrator announced to rename the Shaheed-e-Millat underpass after Umer Sharif. The new name of the junction of Shaheed-e-Millat & Hyder Ali Roads will be named as Umer Sharif Underpass as expressed by the Karachi administrator.
