Despite the fact that the PTI government repaid $10 billion in debt in three years, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry declared that the country was still being crushed under a “mountain of loans” .

It was revealed at a press conference attended by Communications and Postal Services Minister Murad Saeed that the previous PML-N and PPP governments had more than doubled the country’s debt during their tenure in power, according to Fawad “The Sharifs and the Zardaris have stolen Pakistan’s riches,” the minister alleged, saying that the former governing families had stashed the loans taken out for the country in their offshore bank accounts.

“The Sharifs and the Zardaris have stolen Pakistan’s riches,” the minister charged.

He went on to allege that they were still concealing millions of dollars in their bank accounts in various locations, including London and Paris, among others. Even with this much corruption, PTI government repaid $10 billion in debt.

Upon being questioned about the expansion of highways, the minister stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not opposed to them, but rather against the corruption that was being done in their name by corrupt officials.

Avenfield flats in London, he alleged, were acquired by the Sharif family as a result of huge corruption in the development and building of the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) project.

Avenfield flats in London were purchased by the Sharif family “after they were found to have engaged in enormous corruption during the construction of the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway,” according to Fawad.
