Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has released a smartphone application to help residents discover the whereabouts of their nearest Panahgahs (shelter houses) built under the federal government’s Ehsaas Initiative.
The program, dubbed ‘Panahgah,’ was conceived, created, and maintained by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), which was commissioned by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoITT).
The Panahgah app, according to sources, maintains a centralized screen that displays the total number of beneficiaries and food provided in each refuge house throughout the nation.
Another important aspect of the software is that it allows users to give money to PBM with a single click, allowing the charity and social welfare organization to successfully operate Panahgahs across Pakistan.
Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Managing Director (MD) PBM, stated at the inaugural ceremony on Thursday that PBM has constructed 23 Panahgahs around the nation. Every day, each provides 500 people with free meals and 100 people with free overnight stays. PBM intends to open 13 additional Panahgahs in various places around the country by the end of October this year.
He also mentioned that PBM operates 16 mobile meal trucks in 5 cities, providing free food to worthy individuals twice a day, seven days a week. PBM also intends to deploy 24 more mobile food trucks across all federating units, including AJK and GB, by the end of October this year.
