Digital Pakistan is on its Way: IT & Telecom Minister.

Syed Amin Ul Haque, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications has stated that measures are being taken to realize the Digital Pakistan Vision.

On Wednesday, the Federal Minister of Information Technology addressed the GSMA conference. He informed the meeting’s attendees on digital transformation and policies. Julian Gorman, the GSMA’s Asia Pacific chief, attended the meeting via video connection. Dr. Sohail Rajput, Secretary IT, Haaris Mahmood Chaudhry, CEO of Universal Service Fund (USF), and Saira Faisal, GSMA Country Head in Pakistan, was also attending.

He said that the ministry’s efforts in the IT and telecom sectors outnumber those of other countries in the area.

According to Syed Amin Ul Haque, a lot of measures are being undertaken to provide excellent internet services in the country and to assist telecom providers. Work is being done on USF’s 43 projects worth over Rs. 29 billion for the provision of telecommunications services in traditionally underserved regions of the country, he added, while the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) is establishing advanced technologies parks all across the nation and facilitating freelancers.

He stated that the government is committed to improving connectivity and digital infrastructure to benefit the ordinary man.

Speaking at the event, Julian Gorman, the GSMA’s Asia Pacific head, praised the Ministry of IT and Telecom’s performance and digitization efforts. He was particularly pleased with USF’s efforts for providing broadband connections in rural regions of the country.
