Phone with Rollable Display and Air Gestures by Huawei.

Huawei, like many other smartphone vendors, is always experimenting with next-level innovation. The Chinese company has invented a device with a rollable display, which is not a novel notion, but it also supports air motions.

LetsGoDigital, as usual, supplied the patent report, as well as renderings and drawings for the gadget.

This Huawei invention explains the rolling operation of an extensible screen, which is comparable to prior designs from TCL, Samsung, LG, and others. Touchscreen motions or hand signals on the screen may be used to pull out the panel, which Huawei refers to as “freehand gesture control.” This will very certainly be driven by a camera, motion sensors, or both.

A virtual slider will be presented on the screen to let you roll the display in or out. It will also be equipped with haptic feedback and auditory prompts. To roll it out, simply swipe right on the display, and to retract it, swipe left on the expanded screen.

However, this is only the beginning, as Huawei intends to allow customers to regulate the pace at which the display rolls. You may accomplish this by waving a varied number of fingers in front of the display, which will vary the display’s rolling speed correspondingly (as shown in the illustration above).

However, because it is merely a patent, there is no assurance that such a gadget will ever hit the market. This is due to the fact that businesses constantly work on unfinished concepts, and patents seldom make it to a final product.
