At Karachi beach, a cargoship remained stranded for 48 days. It is starting to float after 48 days at the port city’s shore. It’s travelling speed is three nautical miles. It has fully damaged anchors. Moreover, authorities pointed out many other flaws. The cargo ship is moving towards the shore for full repair.

The cargoship will remain at the harbour until full restoration. Moreover, an oil spill was fortunately avoided. He said the Pakistan Navy and other institutions had ensured that the ship was cordoned off and arrangements were made to prevent an oil spill.

According to sources, tugs are accompanying Hang Tong 77, one is on standby while the other tug is towing the cargo ship.

When Did Cargoship Broke?

The Hang Tong seventy seven, manufactured in 2011, sank within the sand near Seaview Karachi because of a broken hanger on July 21. The weight of cargoship is 2,250 heaps. The ship is full of boxes. The registeration of Hang Tong 77 ship is in Panama.

According to a Karachi Port Trust (KPT) spokesman, the cargoshio came ashore due to high waves and a vulnerable engine.

The cargoship captain told that one of the ship’s anchors broke on July 20. The captain said, he requested another berth of the ship, which was denied.

The second anchor also broke on the night between July 20 and 21, the captain informed.

The captain made an SOS call at 1:20 pm to Port Qasim and Manohra right after the second anchor broke. However, KPT did not send help.
