Samsung constantly pushes the frontiers of smartphone cinematography, and its newest smartphone camera is no exception. The ISOCELL HP1, the world’s first 200MP camera sensor with numerous enhancements inside, has been introduced by the firm.

The ISOCELL HP1 features a 0.64m native pixel size. Its innovative ChameleonCell technology provides complete pixel rendering with pixel binning between 22 and 44. It is capable of capturing 50MP pictures with 22 binning and 12.5MP images with 44 binning. In terms of video, it can capture 8K footage at 30 frames per second.

Furthermore, Samsung has launched the ISOCELL GN5 for mid-range cellphones. It’s a compact 50MP sensor with better focus capabilities. It has a native pixel size of 1m and can capture 12.5MP pictures with 22 binning in low light. According to Samsung, it has Front Deep Trench Isolation technology, which allows the sensor to collect as much light as possible while eliminating graining.

The GN5, like the ISOCELL HP1, can capture 8k movies at 30 frames per second. Samsung has not specified which handsets would be the first to receive these sensors, but it seems apparent that the HP1 is intended for next-generation flagship phones, whilst the GN5 will power more inexpensive phones.

Apart from Samsung, Xiaomi is generally one of the first businesses to utilize new Samsung camera sensors, so we may anticipate it to appear on forthcoming Redmi and Xiaomi phones.
