Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Pakistan’s offer to strengthen economic ties with Iran, highlighting the desire to deepen bilateral trade and boost economic development. During a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Islamabad, the prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan and Iran are committed to working together in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, regional cooperation, and sustainable growth.
Shehbaz emphasized the countries’ longstanding friendly relations and thanked the Iranian leadership for supporting Pakistan in times of regional tension. He underscored that the two nations—both having faced terrorism and instability—share a resolve for peace, prosperity, and unity within the Muslim world.
In this renewed push, Pakistan invited Iran to explore opportunities to increase commercial exchanges, remove trade barriers, and launch joint ventures that harness the potential of both economies. Speaker Ghalibaf echoed the sentiment, expressing gratitude for Pakistan’s support and confirming Iran’s commitment to expanding cooperation in economic and parliamentary spheres.
The move marks a strategic effort to diversify Pakistan’s trade partnerships and deepen regional integration. With enhanced focus on cross-border commerce, energy collaboration, and industrial projects, this partnership signals a fresh chapter in Pakistan-Iran relations, one geared toward inclusive growth and shared benefits.
