LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Friday unveiled a significantly enhanced prize structure for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, which will feature an expanded lineup of eight franchises for the first time in the league’s history.
Taking to his official X account, Naqvi confirmed that the champions of PSL 11 will receive $500,000, while the runners-up will be awarded $300,000. In addition to the standard prize pool, he announced a brand-new reward category aimed at celebrating off-field contributions to the sport. A cash prize of $200,000 will be given to the “Best Franchise Contributing Towards Cricket Development.”
The financial announcement coincides with the PCB’s confirmation of the auction date for the league’s two newest franchises. The highly awaited PSL 11 franchise auction will take place on January 6, 2026, a development expected to shape the next era of PSL expansion.
Only bidders who meet the technical criteria will be allowed to participate in the auction, where winners will gain the right to select their preferred city or team name from the shortlisted regions.
The cities currently under consideration for franchise allocation include:
Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.
This announcement also helps clear the air after rumors circulated on social media suggesting that Faisalabad and Gilgit had already secured the new franchise slots. The PCB categorically denied these claims, clarifying that team names and allocations will only be finalized after the auction, strictly following the procedures outlined in the official bid documents.
With new prize categories, heightened financial stakes, and two fresh teams entering the mix, PSL 11 promises to be one of the most transformative seasons in the league’s history.
