Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in the second ODI at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on Wednesday. The hosts, who lead the three-match series 1–0, made two changes to their lineup: Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr. replaced Hasan Nawaz and Abrar Ahmed.
For South Africa, Nandre Burger and Nqabayomzi Peter came in for Lungi Ngidi and Lizaad Williams.
In the first ODI, Pakistan secured a thrilling two-wicket win after successfully chasing South Africa’s total of 263. Salman Ali Agha (62), Mohammad Rizwan (55), and an 87-run opening stand between Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman laid the foundation for the chase. Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah each claimed three wickets to restrict the visitors.
The second ODI offers South Africa a chance to level the series, while Pakistan aim to clinch it with another home victory.
