Cristiano Ronaldo has officially stepped into the world of mixed martial arts by becoming a shareholder in the Spanish MMA promotion WOW FC, marking a significant crossover from football superstardom to combat sports entrepreneurship.
The Portuguese legend, currently playing for Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team, announced the move on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. “I’m excited to share some big news: I will become a shareholder of @wowfcmma! We share values I truly believe in – discipline, respect, resilience, and the constant pursuit of excellence,” Ronaldo wrote, reflecting the philosophy he sees in the promotion.
Ronaldo revealed that he has been an MMA fan for years and believes WOW FC has massive potential. “WOW FC is building something unique and powerful, and I’m proud to join this project to help elevate the sport and inspire the next generation,” he added.
UFC champion and WOW FC co-owner Ilia Topuria celebrated Ronaldo’s involvement, calling it “a powerful moment for the entire sport,” and expressed confidence that their partnership will take MMA to “new heights.”
WOW FC also praised the football icon, stating, “Cristiano is much more than a sports icon; he is a global role model on and off the field. One of the greatest athletes of all time is joining our family to further accelerate the global growth of MMA.”
Ronaldo’s investment marks another bold step in his expanding business ventures, adding star power to a rising MMA promotion and highlighting his growing influence beyond football.
