Revival of the ITI Freight Corridor
At the core of these bilateral discussions was a mutual agreement on the early restoration of the Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul (ITI) Freight Corridor. Both governments identified the urgent need to transform this specific route into a permanent, sustainable regional trade corridor. This strategic initiative is expected to substantially enhance logistics and economic integration across South Asia, Central Asia, and Europe.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Strategic Briefings
The Pakistani delegation specifically briefed Turkish officials on the modernization efforts for the Main Line-3 (ML-3) railway stretching from Rohri to Taftan, emphasizing its role in improving future rail connectivity with Iran. Furthermore, updates were shared regarding the Karachi–Rohri section of the Main Line-1 (ML-1) project, with Pakistan actively inviting Turkish engineering and investment firms to participate in the remaining development phases of these vital corridors.

Digital Transformation and Joint Investments
In an effort to modernize operational frameworks, Pakistan Railways presented its ongoing digital transformation program. The two countries agreed to deepen cooperation regarding the modernization of signaling systems, the upgrading of rolling stock, and the implementation of advanced railway management practices. Additionally, the discussions explored joint ventures and local manufacturing opportunities at Pakistan’s carriage factories and engineering workshops, aiming to utilize Turkish expertise for the local production of passenger coaches and freight wagons.
