In a landmark initiative to promote sporting talent across the province, the Sports Board Punjab has announced the establishment of 16 free sports academies, open to both boys and girls with no registration fees.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi has formally assigned coaches the responsibility of implementing the project, describing it as the first time in the country’s history that such a wide network of free training academies is being introduced.
These academies will be set up across all divisions and districts of Punjab to ensure equal and widespread access for young athletes.
The centres will offer training in a variety of sports, including boxing, athletics, swimming, table tennis, badminton, football, hockey, archery, wushu, karate, taekwondo, squash, and cricket. The initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to making sports training accessible and providing opportunities for youth from all social and economic backgrounds.
