Pakistani Superstar Babar Azam has ended his participation in the Big Bash League (BBL) 15 earlier than expected after being called up to join Pakistan’s national training camp ahead of forthcoming international fixtures.
Babar Azam’s Departure from Sydney Sixers
The Sydney Sixers confirmed on social media that Babar Azam will be unavailable for the remainder of the BBL 15 Finals Series due to his national duties. This announcement means he will not feature in the upcoming crucial matches, including the Challenger Final against the Hobart Hurricanes and potentially the final against the Perth Scorchers.
Farewell Message from Babar Azam
Before leaving, Babar shared a heartfelt video message thanking the Sixers’ management, players, and fans for their warm hospitality during his time in Sydney. He expressed his enjoyment of the experience and regret at having to leave early due to his commitments with Pakistan.
He specifically acknowledged the strong support and encouraging atmosphere from the fans, which made his stint memorable. “They always support here, a lot of support, a lot of encouragement, a lot of fun,” Babar said, highlighting his positive experience at the Sydney cricket ground.
Performance Recap and Upcoming Fixtures
Babar’s exit follows a challenging performance in the BBL 15 Qualifier, where he was dismissed for a second-ball duck while chasing 148 at Optus Stadium against the Perth Scorchers. Over the course of the season, he accumulated 202 runs in 11 matches, including two half-centuries.
The Sydney Sixers are set to face the Hobart Hurricanes in the Challenger Final, with the winner advancing to the final against the Perth Scorchers scheduled for Sunday.
