Tajikistan’s Minister of Defence, Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim, held an important meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.

According to ISPR, the meeting focused on a wide range of issues related to regional defence cooperation, strategic collaboration, and joint efforts to address emerging security challenges.

Discussion on Regional Security & Counter-Terrorism

Both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, particularly:

  • Counter-terrorism cooperation
  • Training and capacity-building collaboration
  • Efforts to enhance regional peace and stability
  • Strengthening existing military-to-military relations

The discussions underscored the shared security concerns faced by Pakistan and Tajikistan, given their geographic proximity and interest in maintaining stability in the broader Central and South Asian region.

Commitment to Deepening Defence Ties

The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to further strengthening defence and security ties with Tajikistan. He highlighted the significance of collective regional efforts in promoting peace, prosperity, and stability.

The visiting Tajik minister appreciated:

  • The professionalism of the Pakistan Army
  • Pakistan’s key role in regional peace
  • Ongoing contributions toward counter-terrorism and strategic stability

Broader Military Cooperation

The meeting also emphasized:

  • Enhancing joint training programs
  • Increasing collaboration between defence institutions
  • Expanding military exchanges and strategic engagements

ISPR stated that both countries share longstanding defence relations and expressed determination to further expand this partnership.
