South Africa Stun Pakistan with 55-Run Win in First T20I at Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A depleted South African side stunned Pakistan with a commanding 55-run victory in the first T20I at Rawalpindi on Tuesday, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Despite missing seven frontline players, the Proteas posted a strong total of 194-9, powered by opener Reeza Hendricks’ 40-ball 60 and George Linde’s late 22-ball 36.

Pakistan’s chase faltered early, with captain Babar Azam dismissed for a second-ball duck in his comeback match. Saim Ayub (37) and Mohammad Nawaz (36) showed some resistance, but South Africa’s Corbin Bosch (4-14) and Linde (3-31) ensured a comfortable win as Pakistan were bowled out for 139 in 18.1 overs.

Pakistan skipper Salman Agha admitted to poor batting execution, while South African captain Donovan Ferreira praised his team’s collective performance.

Both teams wore pink-themed kits to promote breast cancer awareness, with Pakistan’s pink uniforms symbolizing their commitment to the cause. The second and third T20Is will be held in Lahore on Friday and Saturday.
