The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed South Africa’s arrival for their white-ball series through a video on social media, showing Proteas players checking into their hotel. However, the visiting side faces a setback as two key players — David Miller and Gerald Coetzee — have been ruled out due to injuries.
According to Cricket South Africa (CSA), Miller, who was set to captain the T20I squad, sustained a right hamstring strain and withdrew from the tour following medical scans. Coetzee, meanwhile, suffered a pectoral muscle injury during the one-off T20I against Namibia earlier this month, sidelining him from both the ODI and T20I series.
In Miller’s absence, Donovan Ferreira has been appointed T20I captain, while Matthew Breetzke and uncapped Tony de Zorzi have been added to the squad. Ottneil Baartman replaces Coetzee in the ODI squad.
The tour begins with a T20I in Rawalpindi, followed by two matches at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on October 31 and November 1. The teams will then move to Faisalabad for a three-match ODI series from November 4 to 8 at Iqbal Stadium — hosting its first international match since 2008.
