Iran Air has officially announced the resumption of its flight operations between Mashhad and Lahore, marking a major boost for Pakistani pilgrims and travellers. The airline will commence weekly flights starting October 29, reconnecting the two cities after a period of limited air connectivity.

Iran Air Returns to Pakistan

This move signifies Iran Air’s renewed presence in Pakistan, reinforcing aviation and cultural ties between the two neighboring nations. The Mashhad–Lahore route is expected to benefit pilgrims traveling to Iran for religious visits, as well as general passengers seeking more convenient and affordable air travel options.

According to the airline’s statement, the decision comes in response to increasing demand for direct travel between Pakistan and Iran, especially among those visiting the holy cities. The direct flight will eliminate the need for connecting routes, saving time and reducing costs for travellers.

Weekly Flights from October 29

Starting October 29, flights will operate once a week, connecting Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport with Mashhad International Airport. The schedule has been designed to cater to both pilgrims and tourists, enhancing accessibility to one of Iran’s most visited cities.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Aviation experts view this development as a positive step toward strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations, promoting religious tourism, trade, and cultural exchange. The new service is expected to pave the way for expanded connectivity in the future, with potential plans to add more destinations if demand continues to rise.

The resumption of Iran Air’s operations underscores both countries’ commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating people-to-people contact, contributing to closer cooperation across multiple sectors.
