The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has categorically denied recent media reports suggesting that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has stepped down from his post following his unopposed election as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Rumors of Naqvi’s alleged resignation began circulating over the weekend across various sports websites and social media platforms. Many speculated that the additional responsibilities tied to his new ACC role, coupled with his duties as Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister, might prompt him to relinquish the PCB chairmanship.

However, PCB officials were quick to refute such claims, calling the reports “baseless” and misleading. A senior PCB official clarified on Monday that Naqvi remains actively engaged in his role and has no plans to resign.

“There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation. He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket,” the official stated.

Mohsin Naqvi, who took over as PCB Chairman earlier this year, recently achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Pakistani since 2008 to be elected President of the ACC. His unopposed election was widely celebrated in cricketing circles as a significant step forward for Pakistan’s influence in regional cricket governance.

Addressing concerns about holding multiple high-profile roles, the PCB emphasized that such dual responsibilities are not unprecedented.

“It is an honour for Pakistan that our representative is leading the ACC. Mr. Naqvi has no intention of stepping down from the PCB at this stage,” the official reiterated, adding that with effective time management, Naqvi is well-positioned to handle both roles efficiently.

Naqvi’s continued presence at the helm of Pakistan cricket is seen as a sign of stability and growing stature for the nation within international cricket administration.
