British Member of Parliament Yasmin Qureshi has expressed her concerns over the potential closure of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) London office. In a letter addressed to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, she urged the government to reconsider the decision, citing the office’s importance in maintaining PIA’s operations in the United Kingdom.

Concerns Raised by Yasmin Qureshi

MP Yasmin Qureshi highlighted that shutting down the London office could have a negative impact on the airline, especially at a time when flights between Pakistan and the UK are being restored. She stressed that the London office serves as a key operational hub for PIA, playing a crucial role in passenger services, ticketing, and overall business operations in the region.

Qureshi’s letter reflects the concerns of the Pakistani diaspora in the UK, who rely on PIA for direct flights to Pakistan. She has called on the Pakistani government to reconsider the move to ensure that the national airline continues to serve its passengers effectively.

PIA Clarifies Stance on London Office

Amid these concerns, a PIA spokesperson has clarified that there are no plans to shut down the London office. Instead, the airline is currently in the process of modernizing the office to meet current operational requirements and improve services for passengers.

This statement aims to reassure passengers and stakeholders that PIA remains committed to its presence in the UK while adapting to new operational strategies.

Conclusion

The debate over the PIA London office’s future continues, with MP Yasmin Qureshi advocating for its retention and PIA confirming modernization efforts instead of closure. The situation remains critical as stakeholders await further developments regarding PIA’s operational restructuring in the UK.
