US Envoy, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Discuss Stronger Bilateral Cooperation

Islamabad, Pakistan – U.S. Acting Ambassador to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, met with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss key areas of Pakistan-U.S. relations, mutual interests, and expanding bilateral cooperation. The meeting focused on fostering diplomatic ties, counterterrorism efforts, and capacity-building for Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies.

Positive Engagement Following U.S. Visit

During the discussion, Minister Naqvi shared insights from his recent visit to the United States, emphasizing that his interactions with U.S. Congress members were highly constructive. He stated that these meetings played a crucial role in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering a deeper understanding between both nations.

Naqvi reiterated that terrorism remains a global challenge requiring a unified response. He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism and the need for international collaboration in addressing security threats. The Interior Minister stressed that Pakistan and the United States have maintained a strong partnership for decades and are eager to enhance cooperation across various domains, including security, trade, and governance.

U.S. Support for Law Enforcement & Future Prospects

Minister Naqvi underscored the importance of U.S. support in equipping and training Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies. He expressed optimism that Pakistan-U.S. relations would gain further momentum, particularly under President Donald Trump’s leadership.

In a gesture of diplomatic goodwill, Minister Naqvi extended an invitation to Acting U.S. Ambassador Natalie Baker to attend the Jashn-e-Baharan Festival in Islamabad, showcasing Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality.

The meeting reflects the continued commitment of both nations to advancing shared interests and reinforcing cooperation for regional and global stability.
