MBBS Seats Increased in Punjab's Private Medical Colleges

The University of Health Sciences (UHS), in line with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) decision, has announced an increase in the number of seats for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programs at three private medical colleges in Punjab.

The decision was finalized during a meeting chaired by UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore.

Under the new policy:

  • Abwa Medical College (Faisalabad), Niazi Medical College (Sargodha), and Rahbar Medical College (Lahore) will see their MBBS seats increased from 100 to 150.
  • Rahbar Dental College will also introduce 50 additional seats for its BDS program.

In addition to this, the UHS Syndicate granted affiliation to Niazi College of Allied Health Sciences in Sargodha, allowing the institution to launch Bachelor of Science (BS) programs in six Allied Health disciplines.

To maintain academic discipline, UHS has mandated a minimum of 85% attendance for students to be eligible for examinations. Strict measures have been introduced to discourage unauthorized absences.

This move is expected to expand opportunities for aspiring medical professionals across Punjab and enhance the province’s medical education landscape.
