Pakistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, has etched his name in cricket history by achieving the milestone of 100 wickets in T20 Internationals.

Shaheen accomplished this feat during the first T20 match against South Africa in Durban, becoming only the third Pakistani to achieve this milestone in men’s T20 cricket. The left-arm pacer further solidified his legacy by becoming the first Pakistani cricketer to take 100 wickets across all three formats of international cricket.

In addition to his T20 achievements, Shaheen boasts an impressive 112 wickets in ODIs and 116 in Test cricket. Among other Pakistani players, Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan have also crossed the 100-wicket mark in T20 Internationals.

Match Recap

Despite Shaheen’s historic performance, South Africa triumphed over Pakistan by 11 runs in the first game of the three-match T20 series at Kingsmead Stadium, Durban.

Batting first, South Africa posted a competitive total of 183 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. David Miller was the standout performer with 82 stellar runs, supported by George Linde’s 48.

In response, Pakistan managed to score 172 for 8, falling short despite a valiant 74-run knock by captain Mohammad Rizwan and a 31-run contribution by Saim Ayub.

Pakistan’s Squad

The Pakistani lineup for the match included:

  • Mohammad Rizwan (captain)
  • Babar Azam
  • Saim Ayub
  • Usman Khan
  • Tayyab Tahir
  • Mohammad Irfan Khan Niazi
  • Abbas Afridi
  • Shaheen Shah Afridi
  • Haris Rauf
  • Sufiyan Muqeem
  • Abrar Ahmed
