During an official visit to witness the Indus Shield 2024 air exercises, Air Marshal Rajapaksa Appuhamilage Udeni Priyadarshana Rajapaksa, commander of the Sri Lankan Air Force, lauded the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its “flawless execution” of the multinational exercise. Organized by PAF, Indus Shield 2024 is the region’s largest multinational air exercise, with participation from 24 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye.

The exercise showcased Pakistan’s multi-domain warfighting capabilities and emphasized the importance of international collaboration among air forces. Attended by various air chiefs and high-ranking officials from allied nations, the event was a testament to PAF’s strategic prowess and commitment to fostering interoperability, noted the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During a meeting with PAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters in Islamabad, Air Marshal Rajapaksa praised PAF’s leadership in advancing indigenization and transforming the air force to meet next-generation strategic requirements. The two commanders discussed a range of operational topics within the context of regional security.

The Sri Lankan air chief also expressed a desire to further strengthen military ties, focusing on training, maintenance, and enhancing the operational competencies of the Sri Lankan Air Force. The PAF chief assured continued support and cooperation to Sri Lanka in these areas.
