Special Olympics Official Commends Pakistan’s Role in Supporting Special Athletes

At a recent reception hosted by Ronak Lakhani, Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP), Rebecca Ralston, Senior Director of Early Childhood and Preventive Health at Special Olympics International, lauded Pakistan’s efforts in developing athletes with special needs.

Ralston praised SOP for its significant contributions to the global sports community, specifically in training and nurturing athletes with special needs.

The event, which honored Ralston, Pearl Ang (Senior Manager of Health for Special Olympics Asia Pacific), and Pam Rolink (Manager of Youth Initiatives), was attended by key figures, including SOP Board Member Asma Hasan, Advisor Yasmin Haider, and Media Advisor to the Pakistan Olympic Association, Asif Azeem. Special children and their families were also present.

During her visit to facilities in Lahore and Karachi, Ralston noted the enthusiasm of special children for sports and expressed optimism about the future of special games in Pakistan, highlighting Ronak Lakhani’s leadership in promoting inclusivity.

Pearl Ang shared her admiration for Pakistan’s National Youth Leaders and Coaches, commending their talent and enjoying the country’s vibrant culture and cuisine. Pam Rolink also appreciated the warm hospitality of the Pakistani people.

Lakhani thanked the international officials for their visit, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences in shaping the future of Pakistan’s youth leaders and coaches.

The event concluded with the presentation of cultural gifts to the guests, symbolizing the strong ties and mutual respect between the organizations.
