ISLAMABAD: The federal capital is set to undergo a major transformation as the Ministry of Information Technology works to establish Islamabad as a “Model Digital City,” incorporating advanced technologies for the benefit of its residents.

Officials from the Ministry of IT revealed that Islamabad will serve as the pilot project, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a digitally empowered Pakistan.

At the heart of this transformation is the “Model Digital City” project, which will grant residents access to 150 government services via a new City Super Application. This mobile app will provide easy access to services from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Police, health departments, and educational institutions. It aims to streamline citizen interaction with these services, offering a more efficient and user-friendly experience.

Among the features is an e-parking system, designed to improve parking management and reduce congestion. Additionally, AI-integrated smart cameras will be installed throughout the city to enhance security, monitor street crime, and improve traffic management for residents and visitors.

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized that digital transformation is essential for Pakistan’s progress. She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to the Digital Pakistan Vision, with ongoing efforts driven by the Digital Pakistan Policy to advance national development.
