The Joint Venture of the Sinjhoro Block, comprising Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Orient Petroleum, and GHPL, has made a significant gas and condensate discovery at the Baloch-2 well in Sindh’s Sanghar District. This discovery was made within the exploratory zone of the Sembar Formation, part of the Baloch Development and Production Lease (D&PL) under the Sinjhoro Exploration Licence.

OGDCL, which holds a 76% working interest, operates the well, while Orient Petroleum and GHPL hold 19% and 5% interests, respectively.

The Baloch-2 well was spudded on February 24, 2024, and drilled to a total depth of 3,920 meters in the Sembar Formation. The exploration was conducted with in-house evaluation and technical support from OGDCL’s Joint Venture Partners (JVPs).

According to the wireline log interpretations, the Drill Stem Test-3 in the Sembar Formation yielded 6.8 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of gas and 388 Barrels of Condensate per Day (BCPD) through a choke size of 32/64 inches at a Well Head Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 2180 Pounds per Square Inch (Psi).

This marks the first significant discovery in the Sinjhoro Block from the Sembar Formation, known for its substantial source potential and widespread presence across Pakistan’s Middle and Lower Indus basins.

In addition to the development of the Baloch-2 well, OGDC is planning to re-enter existing shut-in wells and expedite the development of the Sembar Formation’s full potential.
