ISLAMABAD, Aug 09 (APP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday emphasized the need for maximum facilitation of Turkish investors in Pakistan to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties. During a meeting with a high-level Turkish delegation led by Turkish Minister for Customs and Trade, Omer Bolat, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic cooperation with Turkiye.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Government of Pakistan is prioritizing efforts to increase bilateral trade to $5 billion, in line with an agreement with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He underscored the deep-rooted brotherly relations between the two nations, describing them as “one nation-two states.”

PM Shehbaz also reiterated his invitation for President Erdogan to visit Pakistan, expressing optimism that the ongoing visit of Turkish investors would significantly enhance investment opportunities in the country.

Turkish Minister Omer Bolat noted that 54 Turkish companies have already invested $3.5 billion in Pakistan, expressing satisfaction with the country’s political and economic stability. The Turkish delegation also thanked Pakistan for its humanitarian assistance following the 2023 earthquake.

The meeting was attended by key federal ministers, including Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Awais Leghari, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkiye, Yousuf Junaid.
