Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has indicated that he is no longer interested in playing international cricket for Pakistan, suggesting that he is leaning towards retirement from all formats of the game.

Having already retired from Test and ODI formats, Malik expressed his contentment with his long and successful career during an interview with a local sports website. He emphasized that he has no interest in returning to international cricket for Pakistan.

“I am happy and content after playing for so many years. I have no interest in playing for Pakistan again,” Malik stated. “I have already announced retirement from two formats. I have been playing league cricket and enjoying my time. Wherever I get an opportunity to play, I try to avail it.”

Malik, who has been actively participating in various T20 leagues around the world, highlighted his enjoyment of league cricket. He reiterated that he would eventually retire from all forms of cricket, including T20 internationals.

“I have no interest in playing international cricket anymore, but as I’ve said before, I will announce my retirement from all forms of cricket once and for all,” he added.

In addition to discussing his own career, Malik offered his thoughts on the future of Pakistan’s cricket leadership. He suggested that Babar Azam should step down from his role as captain of the white-ball formats to focus solely on his batting.

Throughout his illustrious career, Shoaib Malik has been a vital player for Pakistan. He has represented the country in 35 Test matches, 287 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 124 T20 Internationals (T20Is). Over the years, he has amassed over 11,000 runs and taken 218 wickets, making significant contributions in both batting and bowling departments.

Malik’s announcement marks the end of an era for Pakistan cricket, as he has been one of the most experienced and versatile players in the team. His contributions to the game, both on and off the field, have left a lasting impact, and his retirement will certainly be felt by cricket fans worldwide.

As he transitions away from international cricket, Malik’s focus on league cricket will likely continue, allowing him to enjoy the sport in a different capacity while mentoring and inspiring younger players in various leagues. His legacy as a dedicated and skilled cricketer will be remembered for years to come.
