Omar Ayub Khan Resigns as PTI Secretary General
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterLinkedinWhatsapp

Omar Ayub Khan, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has tendered his resignation from the position of Secretary General. Ayub’s decision was communicated through a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), where he disclosed that he formally submitted his resignation on June 22, 2024. This resignation letter was directed to PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, and the party’s Chairman, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. In his heartfelt letter, Ayub explained that his resignation stems from his desire to dedicate more attention to his role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. He candidly admitted that balancing the demands of both positions had become increasingly challenging, compelling him to prioritize his duties as an opposition leader.

Expressing deep gratitude, Ayub thanked Imran Khan for graciously accepting his resignation as Secretary General. He also hinted at forthcoming organizational adjustments within PTI, emphasizing that these changes will be guided by directives from the party’s leadership.

The news of Ayub’s resignation, amidst political dynamics and internal adjustments within PTI, has been notable. Imran Khan, currently detained, was informed of Ayub’s decision through Shibli Faraz, underscoring the ongoing dialogue and decision-making within the party. Ayub’s departure from the Secretary General role marks a significant development within PTI, prompting reflections on future leadership and strategic alignments within Pakistan’s political landscape.
