Did McDonald’s shut down its one of the oldest outlets in Karachi?

McDonald’s, the renowned US fast-food chain, has been facing widespread boycotts ever since its franchisee Alonyal declared its intention to provide free meals to the Israeli military amidst the Gaza conflict last year. This decision stirred significant opposition from various nations, including Pakistan.

Recently, McDonald’s took a significant step by shutting down its 26-year-old outlet in Karachi amidst escalating boycott calls in response to the Gaza conflict.

Confirmation of the closure came not only from social media users but also from McDonald’s official Facebook page, which acknowledged the shutdown of their Tariq Road outlet. However, the company mentioned plans for relocation without specifying the new address.

Many individuals on social media have associated the closure of McDonald’s Karachi outlet with the ongoing boycotts targeting the brand due to its perceived support for Israel.

The impact of Israel’s military actions in Gaza has been tangible on McDonald’s sales, notably in regions like the Middle East and Muslim-majority countries such as Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
