A spokesperson for the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority disclosed on Sunday that a two-member team from Saudi Arabia visited Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The purpose of their visit was to assess the airport’s facilities and discuss arrangements for prospective Haj and Umra pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia.

This visit by the Saudi team was part of the ‘Road to Makkah Project’, an initiative by Saudi Arabia aimed at facilitating the immigration process for Haj and Umrah pilgrims heading to the holy land. Launched by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah in 2019, this project has been implemented in five countries, including Pakistan.

Accompanying the Saudi team was the Saudi consul general in Karachi. Upon their arrival at the airport, the delegation received a warm welcome from the acting airport manager of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, along with representatives from various relevant departments and agencies.

During their extensive tour of the airport, the Saudi delegation was guided through the route that Haj pilgrims would take from the main entrance to the immigration area. The delegation showed keen interest in the entry procedures for pilgrims and the available immigration facilities.

Key discussions revolved around the allocation of immigration halls and other pertinent issues. Additionally, there was a focus on the importance of pilgrims arriving at least five hours prior to their flight’s departure to ensure ample time for necessary procedures and preparations.
