Tragedy struck on Thursday as a young motorbike rider lost his life in a collision involving a vehicle from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s security convoy in the Chandowal area of Narowal district.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO), the vehicles were en route to Kartarpur for CM Maryam’s security arrangements when the incident occurred. The collision transpired when the elite security squad’s vehicle attempted to overtake the motorcycle.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur to address pilgrims gathered for the Baisakhi Mela.
Following the collision, the young rider’s body was swiftly transported to the Narowal District Headquarters Hospital. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered on behalf of the victim’s family, with the DPO affirming that comprehensive legal action would be pursued after a thorough investigation.
The Saddar police station received the filed case from the victim’s cousin, who demanded justice for the tragic loss. In the FIR, the cousin recounted being informed of the accident while working at his shop. He detailed how his cousin, Abu Bakar, sustained fatal injuries in the collision and subsequently passed away at the DHQ hospital.
