The price of ghee sold at Utility Stores has surged by Rs58, reflecting the impact of rising inflation on essential commodities.

Sources indicate that the price of ghee for Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) eligible individuals has reached Rs393 per kilogram.

Under the Ramzan Package, the price of ghee was initially set at Rs335 per kilogram with a subsidy of Rs70, which has now been reduced.

The weekly inflation, as measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), has risen by 0.96 percent for combined consumption groups during the week ending on April 4, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

PBS data reveals that the SPI for the mentioned week reached 326.29 points, compared to 323.20 points in the previous week. Additionally, compared to the same week last year, the SPI for the combined consumption group has surged by 29.45 percent.

Notably, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) achieved its highest-ever sales of Rs44 billion during the month of Ramadan. This success marks the first time in its history that it has surpassed the set sales target of Rs40 billion under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package.

The government’s announcement of a historic subsidy of Rs12.5 billion through Utility Stores played a crucial role in this achievement. Timely arrangements and professional planning by the Corporation’s management ensured the abundant availability of all items.
