Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Tuesday, reiterated the importance of implementing bilateral agreements valued at $10 billion between Pakistan and Kuwait, which were signed in November last year. During a meeting with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Pakistan, Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for concerted efforts to expedite the implementation of the seven agreements.

These agreements cover various sectors including food security, technology, hydel power, mining and minerals, water supply, and mangrove rehabilitation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the breadth of cooperation outlined in these agreements, underscoring their significance in enhancing bilateral relations.

In particular, he highlighted the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in facilitating foreign investment in Pakistan, stressing its importance in attracting investment from Kuwait and beyond.

Expressing Pakistan’s deep-rooted ties with Kuwait, the Prime Minister conveyed gratitude to the Kuwaiti leadership, including Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, for their warm wishes on his re-election. He expressed his commitment to bolstering trade and investment ties between the two countries and extended an invitation to the Amir of Kuwait to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

In response, the Kuwaiti ambassador expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support during challenging times, including the 1990-91 crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the Kuwaiti envoy’s efforts in fostering stronger ties between the two nations, further underscoring the mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
