The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is embarking on the development of Pakistan’s largest Information Technology Park (IT Park) in the federal capital through a public-private partnership.

This initiative aligns with the efforts of newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to bolster IT exports in the country. The project will be situated on a 3.3-acre plot in Sector G-10, following approval from the CDA Board. The IT Park will encompass approximately 100,000 square feet of space, accommodating 5,000 to 6,000 freelancers concurrently.

Designed to foster innovation and collaboration, the IT Park will feature amenities such as a research center, library, software houses, conference facilities, and dedicated working spaces for freelancers and startups. Additionally, there will be areas designated for exhibiting IT products.

Financing for the construction of the IT Park will be provided by private IT companies, which will also lease office spaces within the premises. However, the management and ownership of the Park will be overseen by the CDA.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently convened a meeting with stakeholders from the IT and Telecom sectors, directing them to devise a comprehensive strategy to bolster IT exports. He emphasized the importance of empowering youth with IT education and skills, along with facilitating startup initiatives.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the positive outcomes of previous initiatives in the IT sector, citing resolved banking-related issues for startups, freelancers, and IT firms. He expressed optimism regarding the projected IT export volume, aiming to surpass three billion dollars, and urged for further enhancements. Additionally, he stressed the importance of implementing legal and policy measures to attract investment and boost IT exports.
