Saudi Arabia has gifted Pakistan 100 tons of dates ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, announced the Saudi embassy on Friday.

Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, involves fasting from sunrise to sunset for a month. The Islamic lunar month is set to begin in March this year, leading up to the joyous occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The gesture of goodwill was extended by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the recommendation of the esteemed leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

During a ceremony at the Saudi embassy in Islamabad, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Maliki, along with Abdullah Al-Baqami, director of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Center (KSrelief), handed over the consignment of dates.

“This generous donation of 100 tons of dates is intended for distribution among the Pakistani community during the holy month of Ramadan,” the embassy stated.

The statement emphasized the enduring bond of friendship and brotherhood between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, highlighting the spirit of generosity and solidarity shared by both nations.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have longstanding ties in trade, defense, and fraternal relations. With over 2.7 million Pakistani expatriates residing in the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia serves as the top destination for remittances, supporting Pakistan’s economy.
