US President Joe Biden has expressed optimism that a cease-fire in Gaza could potentially commence by the beginning of next week. Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, France, and other nations have been working to facilitate an end to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, with a focus on securing the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza.
The proposed agreement may also involve the exchange of numerous hostages, including several hundred Palestinians held by Israel.
During his visit to New York, President Biden mentioned that his national security adviser informed him about the proximity of a cease-fire agreement. He stated that while some details remain to be worked out, there is hope to finalize the cease-fire agreement by the upcoming Monday.
White House national security adviser Jack Sullivan reported that representatives from various parties in Gaza, including Hamas, met in Paris to discuss a temporary cease-fire and the release of hostages. After the Paris meeting, officials from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, Israel, and Hamas reportedly convened in Doha. Media reports linked to Gaza suggest that a cease-fire is anticipated before the onset of Ramzan.
