In a significant development, the Chief Executive of the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, announced that Pakistani food exports are poised to exceed the $7 billion milestone by the end of the fiscal year 2023-24. This marks a substantial increase from the previous annual exports of about $4 billion in this sector.

Addressing attendees at the Pakistan Pavilion during the ongoing Gulf Food Exhibition at the Dubai Trade Centre, Mr. Motiwala highlighted TDAP’s dedicated efforts to boost the export of Pakistani food and food items, which are yielding impressive results for the country’s export sector.

Mr. Motiwala emphasized that expanding exports of Pakistani products is a key pathway to achieving economic prosperity, and TDAP is playing a pivotal role in advancing this national objective.

At the Gulf Food festival, a total of 100 Pakistani exhibitors are showcasing their products, with 45 being sponsored by TDAP while others are participating on a self-sponsorship basis.

Mr. Motiwala shared encouraging statistics, noting a remarkable increase of 300 to 400 percent in the exports of sesame seeds this year. He also highlighted the thriving export performance of Pakistani rice, expected to surpass $3 billion compared to the previous figure of about $1.5 billion.

The chief underscored the significance of these achievements, emphasizing the positive impact on Pakistan’s economy and the global recognition of the country’s high-quality food products. This surge in exports reflects the growing competitiveness and appeal of Pakistani food items in international markets, paving the way for continued success and growth in the sector.
