Agreements have been signed between Islamabad and Doha to enhance employment prospects for Pakistanis in Qatar.

Following a visit by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Jawad Sohrab Malik, Islamabad, and Doha have finalized key agreements aimed at improving job prospects for the Pakistani workforce in Qatar. The agreements, signed with leading Qatari companies, signify a significant advancement in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two nations in the realm of human resource development.

During the visit, SAPM Malik engaged in a significant discussion with Mr. Hamad Saleh Al Qamra, Chairman of Al Qamra Holding, focusing on the potential recruitment of Pakistani manpower for various company projects.
Additionally, a visit to View Hospital, a part of Elegancia Health Care, was included, where the ongoing recruitment of Pakistani health professionals is a result of a recent MoU between Elegancia Health Care and the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) of Pakistan.

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development’s statement emphasized that the primary aim of these initiatives is to expand employment opportunities for Pakistani workers in Qatar.
Malik emphasized Pakistan’s potential as a major source of manpower and outlined the government’s efforts to streamline the process through reputable recruitment agencies, skill development, and addressing the needs of foreign employers.

The CEOs of the Qatari companies expressed contentment with the Pakistani workforce and their intention to expand the presence of Pakistani manpower in their companies while adhering to Qatar’s governmental regulations. The meetings also highlighted the rising demand for skilled labor in sectors such as services, maintenance, hospitality, and construction, driven by Qatar’s substantial infrastructural development.

During the three-day visit, the SAPM held individual meetings with Qatar’s labor minister, interior minister, and education minister. The agreements and discussions signify a significant step toward increasing the participation of the Pakistani workforce in Qatar, paving the way for mutual economic growth and stronger bilateral relations.
