In a closely contested race, the BMW X1 claimed the second spot, earning the Import Car of the Year trophy for its exceptional handling and versatile powertrain options. The Japan Car of the Year awards, now in its 44th year, involved representatives from 39 influential automotive and lifestyle publications serving as jurors. The jurors meticulously evaluated and voted on the “10 Best” cars for 2023 at the Sodegaura Forest Raceway near Tokyo.
In special award categories, the 660cc Mitsubishi Delica Mini kei-car was honored with the Design Car of the Year trophy, while the Nissan Serena received the Technology Car of the Year award for its innovative e-Power system and Pro-Pilot 2.0 driver assist system.
