According to the details from from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, the designated branches of banks in Pakistan have initiated the process of accepting applications for Hajj 2024.

The ministry stated that 15 branches of designated banks nationwide will be open to receive applications for the government’s Hajj scheme until December 12. It is anticipated that 197,201 Pakistani pilgrims will embark on the sacred journey next year, with the government having reduced Hajj expenses by Rs100,000.

In a historic move, the caretaker government has introduced a short Hajj package, marking the first time such an option is available. Additionally, there is a significant development for female pilgrims as, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, women will have the opportunity to undertake the sacred journey without the traditional requirement of a male companion. This change symbolizes a progressive shift in the approach to this religious obligation.

The reduction in Hajj expenses and the introduction of a short Hajj package aim to facilitate a greater number of individuals to participate in the pilgrimage. The move to allow women to undertake the journey without a male companion reflects efforts to make the Hajj experience more accessible and inclusive. The government’s decision to implement these changes signifies a commitment to enhancing the experience for all aspiring pilgrims and promoting greater inclusivity in religious practices.
