Cement Prices Hike as Sales Increase

Domestic cement deals rose by 17 percent to 27.65 million tons in 7MFY21, while exports likewise developed by 10.23pc to 5.71m tons from 5.186m tons in a similar period a year ago. Subsequently, the total dispatches (local and exports) were 33.36m tons that were 15.77pc higher over the comparing time of last monetary year. 

In January, the sector posted a development of 16.28pc when contrasted with January 2020. Absolute cement dispatches in January were 4.73m tons against 4.07m tons same month of a year ago. Local deals during January expanded by 23.67pc to 4.03m tons contrasted with 3.26m tons in January 2020. Nonetheless, exports dropped by 14pc to 694,934 tons in January from 808,874 tons in January 2020. 

In the midst of rising interest by virtue of developing exercises in the open and private areas, cement producers keep on raising prices connecting them to higher coal prices on the world market. Power Cement had also raised the cost by Rs15 per 50kg pack from Feb 1. 

Shankar Talreja of Topline Securities said cement prices in the North district had been expanded by Rs10/pack from Jan 20 because of taking off coal prices. The increment of $30 per ton in coal prices converts into increment in expense of cement creation by over Rs30-32 for every sack, including December 2020, the prices expanded by Rs20 per 50kg pack. 

APCMA representative said the cement area is confronting significant expense increment because of rising coal prices.
