Commonwealth Masters, PhD Scholarship for UK opens for Pakistani students; here’s how to apply
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has opened applications for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship, which will be available in the United Kingdom in 2023. These scholarships are available at UK universities for full-time master’s degrees and PHD programs.
Students in Pakistan might rejoice since the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom administers the UK government’s Commonwealth scholarship scheme based on international development goals.
The Commonwealth Scholarship program offers 30 PhD areas and 26 Master’s programs.
Application Procedure
Interested candidates must apply online through the Commonwealth and HEC portals.
1st Step (Commonwealth Online Application)
Candidates must apply online through the CSC’s website, which is listed below. The CSC will not accept applications that are not submitted through the online application system or after the above-mentioned closing date.

2nd Step (HEC Online application)

Please select Learning Opportunities Abroad once you have completed registration and filed your profile. After submission, obtain a printed copy that the applicant must sign.

Who is eligible for Commonwealth Scholarship
- To be eligible for CWS scholarships, candidates must meet both HEC and CSC requirements. Here are the specific criteria
- Nationality and Residency:
- Candidates must be Pakistani/Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) nationals and permanent residents of Pakistan/AJ&K.
- Dual nationals are not eligible to apply.
- Master’s Scholarship:
- Applicants for Master’s scholarships must have earned a first division in their 16-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the relevant field of study.
- PhD Scholarship:
- For PhD scholarships, applicants must have achieved a first division in their 17/18-year Masters/MS/MPhil degree in the relevant field of study.
- Academic Performance:
- Applicants must not have received a Second or Third division in their terminal/last degree.
- Students awaiting their final results are eligible to apply.
- HAT Test Score:
- All applicants are required to provide a HAT test score.
- The minimum accepted score in the HAT test is 60 out of 100.
- Interested candidates can complete their registration for these scholarships by visiting the official website at https://etc.hec.gov.pk/. The ETC is currently accepting applications for the HAT test.
