General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with Saudi Arabia’s army chief, General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al Ruwaili, on Friday to discuss various areas of mutual interest.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) release, Gen Ruwaili and his high-powered military delegation met with Gen Munir.

“Both sides deliberated on various areas of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation, including defence and security matters,” the military’s media affairs department said.

The group also met with Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza earlier today at the Joint Staff Headquarters, according to the statement.

The Saudi delegation’s visit to Pakistan comes just days after COAS Munir informed the business community of Saudi Arabia’s decision to invest $25 billion in Pakistan through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), with the goal of attracting investment in agriculture by offering land and ensuring exports.

Earlier this year, the army chief visited Madina, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

During his tour, Gen Munir met with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and discussed ways to expand bilateral collaboration.

The presidents discussed military and defence cooperation, as well as strategies to promote and strengthen it, as well as critical regional and international issues of mutual importance.
