Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the need for national unity and collaboration in driving the country’s prosperity on Thursday.

He was speaking to Torghar’s elders after laying the groundwork for the Torghar Buner Highway, Buner-Karakar Link Tunnel, and Torghar-Buner RCC bridge.

The Prime Minister stated that it is the role of the government, judiciary, military forces, and the people to work together to ensure the country’s progress.

Shehbaz Sharif highlights the importance of national unity, hard effort, and dedication in order to brighten Pakistan’s future.

He stated that Pakistan recently experienced financial difficulties and reached an arrangement with the International Monetary Fund at the staff level to avoid default. In this regard, he emphasized the efforts of army head General Asim Munir in securing the three billion dollar transaction with the global lender.

He expressed optimism that Pakistan would soon rise to prominence in the international community.

Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the contributions of local forefathers who contributed to their lands during Pakistan’s establishment seventy years ago.

The Prime Minister announced the development of a Danish school, two universities in the area, and an educational facilities initiative for children from low-income families that he had previously inaugurated in Punjab.

The Prime Minister was given a full briefing on the projects on this occasion. It was stated that after the building of the Torghar-Buner Road and bridge across the Indus River, people will only have to travel one km instead of 250 kilometres to access areas on the other side of the river. It was also stated that it will connect the districts of Buner, Mardan, and Terbela.

The Prime Minister was informed that the overall length of the Karakar Tunnel will be 2.1 kilometres and that it will be built in three years at a cost of 9.58 billion rupees. It will link District Buner and the Swat Motorway.

Similarly, the Torghar-Buner RCC Bridge in Karakar on the Indus River would be 876 metres long and built in three years for 9.95 billion rupees.

Shehbaz Sharif, speaking on the occasion, stated that he is glad to lay the groundwork for development projects that would usher in a new age of progress and prosperity in the region.

He urged the authorities in charge to labour around the clock to complete these projects in one or one and a half years, rather than the three years specified.
