Pakistan secured a total of 10 gold medals at the 16th Special Olympics World Games, which concluded in Berlin on Sunday.

The addition to Pakistan’s gold medal count came when cyclist Safeer Abid won one in the 10km time trial race during the cycling event of the games. He completed the 10km distance in 23 minutes and 02.02 seconds.

This was Safeer’s first time participating in the World Games. He had been preparing for this special sporting event for the past two years, he mentioned.

“I am passionate about winning more medals for Pakistan in upcoming international events,” Safeer stated.

In the 500m time trial race, Madeeha Tahir of Pakistan won the silver medal, covering the distance in 1 minute and 14.15 seconds, while Amina Arshad won the bronze medal, completing the distance in 1 minute and 16.82 seconds.

In the futsal event final, Oman claimed the gold medal by defeating Pakistan 6-3. Pakistan secured the silver medal, finishing in second place.

Pakistan ranked fourth in the women’s doubles, men’s singles, and unified men’s doubles of the tennis event.

In the Bocce team event, Pakistan’s Mahnoor, Simran Mahesh Lal, Jamilur Rahman, and Farhan Aslam won the silver medal after defeating Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Farhan Aslam won the bronze medal in men’s singles, and Mahnoor won the bronze medal in women’s singles.

Earlier, Muhammad Luqman and Habibullah of Pakistan clinched gold medals, further adding to the country’s gold medal tally.

Luqman secured gold in the 100m race with a timing of 15.21 seconds. He also won a silver medal in the long jump.

In powerlifting, Habibullah won gold in the 83-kilogram deadlift category. He also won silver medals in the squat, bench press, and combined weight categories.
