After complaints of irregularities and misconduct during the matriculation and intermediate tests and results throughout the province, the Sindh government has given the go-ahead to outsource the examination procedures.

The heads of all the province’s matric and intermediate education boards have received a letter in this respect from the Department of Boards and Universities, according to a story in The News.

According to the letter, Minister for Universities & Boards Department Ismail Rahoo has approved the outsourcing of the examination system beginning with the upcoming annual examination in 2023 in a phased fashion due to numerous complaints of bad administration and corrupt practices during examinations and the compilation of results for matric and inter results. To ensure openness and fairness and to prevent cheating, it has been decided to automate or digitize the exam procedure.

The letter further urges that, in accordance with the SPPRA Rules from 2010, the chairs of all boards give examination components priority when it comes to outsourcing.

“All boards must pay for the necessary expenses from the money they have set out for CFY 2022–23. All boards must determine their precise financial impact once the exercise is finished in CFY 2022–2023 in order for a regular grant (difference, if any), to be worked out or taken into consideration.

Furthermore, as a result of the Sindh chief minister’s lack of serious action, 17 MBBS admissions at Liaquat Medical University in Jamshoro have been canceled, Ziauddin University Examination Board has canceled 1,200 mark sheets from education boards in Sindh, and Dawood Engineering University has canceled numerous admissions.

All of the controllers, secretaries, and audit officers currently employed by Sindh’s eight educational boards are either junior officers or have joined the organization within the previous six years from other departments. While five educational boards went two years without a chairman.
